    Default Help needed

    G'day everyone,

My name is Jeff and I bought a brand-new "Gotta" brand razor a long time ago (18 years or so), as well as a strop. Despite all my efforts over the years, I have never managed to get a shave out of the damn thing. I pull it out every so often and have a go at sharpening it, without success. I'm at a point where I just want to send it to a professional to get it sharpened, once I have a shave with it I'm happy to maintain it. I don't want to be buying a whole heap of stuff (hones, stones, paste etc) at this stage in things, I just want to shave.

I live in Australia and I'm wondering if there is anyone "Down Under" who I can send it to. If not, I am at the point where I will send it to the moon if needs be, so is there someone in the States that can help?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, the razor appears to be in pretty good nick, I have never abused it and there has never been any rust etc. It's sharp enough to pull and gouge at my whiskers, so it's close but I just can't get it over the line where I can shave with it.

    Thanks to all in anticipation....

    Jeff

Welcome to SRP, Jeff, you've found the right place to help you learn to shave.
    Where abouts are you?
If you're in the Brisbane area I'll hone the razor up for you, gratis, all you have to do is bring it over.
There are various others in Australia, depending on what state you're in (pi$$ed doesn't count....hehehe).
Glad to have you here, hang on and enjoy the ride

    G'day Jeff,

I highly recommend Oz. He's up in Sydney, his prices are great and above all, the man's a legend.

    Cheers,
    Brad

    Jeff, Greetings.

Being a bit far away, I've not had the pleasure of meeting Oz, only been the grateful recipient of his kind help. His work, displayed over the last 18 mo. has been very handsome, taking some very rough razors and making them performers. His skill on the stones is praised by guys who know what a good edge is. I would definitely start by connecting w/ Oz. The Gotta razor has always been mentioned as a high quality blade. Get a good edge on it, and you should be in very good shape.
