Thread: A Tale of woe,

Hi Guys, A tale of woe for the unwary, today i received my razor i bought on a well known auction site, a nice 11/16 hollow ground wade and butcher, the sale was fine, just as described.

i ripped open the packaging, the razor was sharp almost shave ready. but the blade was a little dull, so out came the dremel polishing head and polish, just about finished and tragedy i caught the blade edge and shattered the blade.

Absolutely gutted.

Well the upside of this tragedy is that i can now look for another one.

umm not to be the jerk in the room... but why did you think a dremel with a polishing head and compound would work here?? or even sharpen a dull blade??

you need to invest some cash in some hones if you are looking to sharpen your gear...

oh well live and learn right :P

I think he may have meant dull as in not shiny and was trying to polish

Hi guys thankyou for your response, yes i was on about dull in the sense of not being shiny, I usually do the polishing with the dremel set to low speed but this time i did it on fast, just clipped the shaving edge and shards of metal all over. yup a tough lesson, but life is full of lessons it how we choose to learn from them that is the challenge.

Wow, I probably would have cried for hours. Oh well, like you said, at least you can look for another one, maybe this happened for a reason and you are going to find a great razor! Good luck!

I was rather narked with myself, but it gives me the chance to buy more razors, got a few bids on ebay going, but looked on whipped dog yesterday and he has a very nice razor on there i quite fancy, so depending on how the ebay bids go i will buy from whipped dog, has anybody used them?.

I suppose the purpose of this thread was to highlight the dangers of dremels when polishing blades for other newbies.

Whipped Dog has lots of satisfied customers, on this site and at Badger and Blade.

The "Classifieds" here often have low-priced blades, but they get sold really fast.
