Default New Revisor arrived today :)

I just got my new Revisor 6-0002 in the mail. My 1st 6/8 razor. Pretty substantial compared to my Boker and Dovo 5/8's. I can hardly wait to try it. That brings my question. All through the forums I read that razors are not shave ready from the factory. It passes the the HHT but I know that doesn't necessarily mean it will give a smooth shave.
Try it? Or just box it back up and send it to someone like Lynn. I can keep an edge on a blade with my Naniwa 12K but that is the extent of my honing skills.

I'd play it safe and send it to a trusted hone expert. That way you'll have a great edge and eventually just need to touch it up.

I would try shaving for sure, there seems to be a bit hit and miss with Revisors, sometimes they come shave-ready, and most of the time not.

    Congrats on a fine razor!

I would strop it and give it a go.
When I got mine a few months back, it delivered a fine shave straight out of the box

If it passes the HHT and you are able to maintain an edge using the 12 K I think there's no need to send it out. Give her a go!

Run it over the 12K, strop and give it a try. Enjoy the new Razor

We all know you won't be able to resist, so go ahead and shave it. But when I got my Revisor it was less than perfect. I made an attempt (feeble), to hone it but in the end I sent it to Glen for the real deal. Now she's a really nice....

You were right deadrift. Made 20 laps on my 12K and then 50/100 on the strop last night. What a nice smooth shave this morning. I was really surprized as to how easily I was able to manuver the 6/8. The extra weight was really nice also. I think I had more control. This could become my favorite razor. I can see why so many like the larger blades.

Congrats on your most recent straight razor acquisition.

Photos of that sweet shaving 6/8 inch Revisor would indeed be sooo nice.

I got one from Obie a few weeks ago. Wowzers! A great shaver.
