Default Just got a new blade, have some questions.

I am learning everything, but my strop has some interesting lines on the right hand side. I think the majority is lack of skill and knowledge, but I think the next image has something to do with it.

If you can see the very tip of razor, has a weird ding? and about 3/4" inward there is another ding. The main thing I am noticing is that every time I strop it, these two sections get small amounts of leather stuck in them. Once again, I am learning everything as this is the first time I have ever had a straight edge, but I did watch Lynn's video and have been reading around on here a lot. Thanks for any help you can give.

Before I say anything I need to let you know that pics can be very deceiving so keep that in mind...

But from the pics it looks like you have two little dingers in the bevel and they are going to need to be honed out... You can really see it in the last link the best and if you bring up the magnification...

Yeah I can also see 2 dings. It won't take much to hone them out, though. Btw, I bought this jewelers loupe Amazon.com: SE 20X & 40X Dual Power Illuminated Jewelers Loupe: Home Improvement it's great for just that, eliminating dings.

Somewhere, somehow the edge has been dinged, get it rehoned, it shouldn't take much

Small dings are part of life for the new straight shaver. Send it in for a rehone & take care not to foul the edge when closing the razor or when doing anything razor related. Even a bump with your finger nail is enough to fold the edge like that.
Not saying it's your fault but it's a common area of damage honers would repair for customers that have bumped the tap or faucet.

Makes sense. Would it be possible to keep using while I learn or should I send it back asap?

Could the dings on the razor's edge have caused the lines on the strop? That would be my guess....

I would send it back for repair. It will keep scratching your strop & may be a chance of scratching you.

I don't think a strop would be "hard enough" to ding the blade. Either the bathroom sink or some hard surface is more likely. Or they might have just sent the blade like that. Either way I would contact SRD and send the blade to them for a fix, is really not a big deal, the dings are so small that they should hone away really easily.
