Thread: Creating a slurry

I have watched multiple videos on honing and was curious if I could use a 6k slurry stone from a king on a higher or lower grit norton or naniwa. Will the slurry stone do any harm?

Slurry on softer stones could imbed in the surface of the stone. What is your thinking behind this?
Use a DMT 325 or the like.

The king slurry stone isn't, technically, a slurry stone. It's a cleaning stone, also known as a dressing stone. You should look carefully, that stone is likely only about 1K...thus not good for slurry after setting the bevel.

Keep in mind slurries are a huge variable, when you start with them it is best to use the least amount of variables added to the mix, then complicate it more, as you gain traction with the techniques...
ie: start with slurries generated from the stone you are working on, (using a DMT or the like) then work into using slurry stones of different grits (nagura) to change the matrix...
