Default Newbie 1st razor purchase - positive feedback for member hibudgl

    Hello All,

I wanted to share my positive experiences of doing business with HIBUDGL. I am a total newbie to SR shaving. I googled around and came across some good videos and good feedback about HIBUDGL (aka "Sham").

I purchased my 1st newbie Straight razor from him, from a classified area of another SR forum. Now please let me apologize to Lynn and the great people here at SRP, because I mean no disrespect. My interest in SR shaving was sparked by a desire to find an alernative to paying so much money for Gillette Mach III (etc) blades, but it seemed to defeat the point if I were going to be spending hundreds of dollars to get geared-up just to avoid paying twenty dollars to Gillette. There are beautiful razors available here, but their price is a bit out of my budget as a newbie who wants to try out SR shaving and not spend a bundle.

Anyway, I digress... I bought a nice vintage straight razor from hibudgl for about $25.00. It arrived promptly and very safely packaged, and the blade edge was nicely coated in oil. It was shave ready (as advertised). (It is a Boker Red Injun #101). I used the blade for a month or two, and stropped it daily, and you know, dropped it in the sink once or twice, so I was not sure if these "artifacts" i put on the edge were honeable or if they needed deeper work. So I emailed Sham about it, and he said to just send the blade back to him and he will take care of it. Indeed, he took back the blade, and did some work on it, and sent it to me in refreshed condition. I expected to pay for the work, but he said there would be no charge!

Thank you Sham for really giving me such a GREAT beginner's experience in the world of Straight Razor shaving. I want to give the highest possible marks of customer satisfaction to Sham (hibudgl) and recommend him to any folks looking for a very fair man to do business with.

Thank you also Lynn for providing this fine forum where we can share good experiences with each other. I have your shaving DVD and I recommend it to newbies as well. Thanks!

There are very, very, few people who possess the skills required for me, personally, to consider purchasing honing and razors from. Sham is one of those few.

Hello, greginmarin. I could not agree with you more. Sham is a class act, indeed. I have bought several razors from him in a wide range of prices and each has arrived as promised, each a superb shaver. I find Sham generous and kind, and an exceptional teacher with an astonishing wealth of knowledge about straight razors and honing. So, my dear friend, you have started the right way — with a razor prepared by a gentleman.

I am another newb who started out with a razor from Sham. Since then, he's helped me on numerous occassions with a wide range if info. He is as professional and courteous as they come. A true asset to the shaving community.
You'll soon notice this forum is packed with people who like helping. I have yet to meet or hear of a rude member. Its a testament to those involved with running SRP. Good luck and welcome to the world of str8s

I also would like to extend my thanks to Hi_Bud_GL
A couple of months ago I bought a nice WR Morley razor from him
had some good beginner experiences with it and then
dropped something on the spine of the razor

Not really a catastrophe but the spine had a jagged bit of raised metal on it
and it would scratch the strop up badly when I stropped it .. very disappointed

So I sent Bud an email explaining my mistake
He said send it to him and he will fix the problem
Within a few days of getting my razor Bud had it all sorted out
And on its way back to me
As good as new or maybe better
It looked a real show piece ... wow great job

It took about 5 weeks to get back to me in Australia (customs delays here)
I picked it up today from my Post Office
I am very happy with Buds work
Anybody looking for a quality razor
    Check Buds offerings out
    You will be pleasantly surprised

    Thanks again Bud
