Thread: 2 am. first shave. WOW!

First I want to thank Pinklather for making the purchase of my first sr so great. He really took care of me. your solid gold pink. My razor came in the mail today after I left for work. I couldn't wait to get home and see it. It looked so much better than the pics, I didn't think it was so shiny. After a hot shower I enjoyed a thrill ride of a shave lol! I have been watching all the vids on here and really took my time and put to use all the knowledge learned here at SRP. I know you should only do your cheeks out of the gate but I learn by doing. I have a chin beard so I went slow and just went for it. I'm waiting on soaps so I used Edge shave cream in a tube and nivea cool kick after shave&moisturizer. It did the job and the shave was so nice. The full hollow blade was singing and the 5/8 size worked for me on the upper lip and around the goatee. I'm telling you my face is completely bbs cept for two spots on my neck on either side of my adams apple. but thats a grain problem I will touch up in the morning(11:00 am) I am proud to say I did not let flow the red red vino, but a barely raised mole on my jawline got red. not bad! I'm happy people! I even made a point to really study my face after my last 3 blade plastic wally world razor and that thing never shaved this close. Thank you SRP cheers to my first razor, The first of many, and the first of many great shaves.

I have to admit, the thought of having a razor that sharp against my face for the first time is a bit intimidating, yet insanely alluring. I'm awaiting the arrival of my first SR but your excitement and success has given me hope for a mistake-free first shave. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your success, it's a great feeling being able to shave with a straight isn't it. Keep at it, it will improve a lot as you get more proficient in your technique and learn your growth patterns better

Well done ! You did much better than I . Keep at it and remember
to learn stropping properly . You will find it hard to believe
you used a plastic three blade all those years .

just so ya know. I took a looong time to shave. getting used to blade position and what not. I'm sure it looked silly. I really like the one hand style. I'm not good with my left. I was woried about upper lip but I just pushed the spine against my nose to get the angle and held the razor still and curled my lip up. worked great. I was amazed at how sharp the blade was. and after the shave it was not as sharp (duh) but carfull newbie stropping got it right back in shape. the thing is I didnt know the edge would be noticeably dulled after a shave.

To put it mildly, my first shave was how i got my name. I was a bloody mess - but could see w/ proper gear and some practice - I would get the hang of it. With your first shave being so good - you'll be hooked. No other shave can match what you're learning. It'll only get better from here - and you'll learn much more quickly than I did.

Rather than dive headlong into RAD, maybe there's some members near you that you could connect with to try each other's gear. That way you get to experience other hardware without having to buy & sell alot. Keep us posted on your thoughts and progress. It's a pleasure to hear.
