For my chin & mustache area i go across that area on a slight angle - about the same as this photo.

When i get to my mustache area or chin i do sometime re strop about 10 storks. I know some guys do this but most guys don't need to. If 'i' don't re-strop i can sometimes get a little bit of pulling on those areas but not all the time. i guess it depends on your razor and how thick you beard is.

Forgive me if I name the wrong parts. I still haven't mastered the terminology.

    Upper lip-
-I start at the side of the lip. I keep the edge parallel to the floor and go down working my way to my nose. If I'm doing the right side of the upper lip the monkey tail will be pointed towards my left ear and the end where the edge is at(I forget what it's called) is pointed towards my right ear.
-Once I finish the right side I reverse and do the exact opposite on the left side. Monkey tail pointed towards right ear.
-Once I get to the middle I will flip the blade vertical to get any hairs i missed close to my nose.

    Chin-
-the chin is a tricky area. I will tilt my head up, and start lower on the neck where I don't have to worry about changing the angle. I then slowly work my way up. This way I can slowly adjust the angle of the blade so it cuts hair and not the skin. If you start right on the chin it is hard to know what angle to hold the blade at, so it cuts the hair and not the skin unless you have the muscle memory.
-On the side of MY chin(not sure about yours) the hair grows sideways back towards the ear, so I will angle the blade to go WTG.

    I hope this helps

It wont take you long to get that hang of it and it shouldn't be long until you can throw away that disposable!

But that's unless you literately are trying to get "a co0uple of shaves under you belt" and if that's the case i don't know if i would be using a straight razor there. But hey that's just me lol

These gentlemen have given you good advice. I might add, take your time at honing your skill with the straight razor. Also keep the pressure light. Watch as many videos as you can find: there are several on SRP of high quality. Most of all, maintain your focus. You're getting there.
