Thread: The rationalization of RAD

Razor #1: "If I get a straight razor, I'll never have to be a slave to Gillette again! Think of the money I'll save!"

Razor #2: "I need a backup razor, that way I can always have one if the other is out getting sharpened."

Razor #3: "I need a wedge."

Razor #4: "I'm good on razors, but this is a NOS Red Imp for under a hundred bucks. I'm practically making money on the deal."

Razor #5: "If I add just one more razor, I can rotate them and go longer between honing"

Razor #6: "I just need this one more razor to travel with. I don't have a travel razor yet."

Razor #7: "It's just so I can have a seven day set"

Razor #8: "French? I don't have a french razor yet. Just this last one."

Razor #45: "If I have them send it to work, SWMBO won't have to know"

Razor #1,588: "Hi. I'm an SRP mod."


Any ones I'm missing?

Why use the short list?

Nope, I think that about covers it!!! LOL...

And yes, I've used every one of those, except sending it to work.. I hadn't thought of that yet (yet, hehehe).

There are always more excuses!

I'm off work at the moment due to a motorbike accident..

So i can use

"It will make me feel better since I no longer have my bike"
or
"I will need to get myself a post surgery present!"
or
"aren't you glad i'm collecting razor rather then getting a new bike"

The list goes on!

Or i could just forget to tell to tell her that I receive a new razor during the day while she is at work. Woops. I wouldn't get away with that one too often though

The only positive thing from being hit by a car! hehe I think the sympathy is wearing off now though... Now the next hurdle... How do i get a new bike

Yep, that's kinda how it goes...!

HAD is kinda the same really...

"I need a hone to touch up my blades, a barber hone will work"

"I got this eBay wedge that needs honing, might as well get a full 1/4/8/finisher set up, that way I can do everything and don't have to send anything out"

"I've just bought a razor from XXX and he used an Escher to finish. I really love the edge, gotta get me an Escher."

"I wonder if those japanese stones are better than an Escher...?"

"I really like my J-Nat but I wonder if that asagi is even better than my Maruichi?" (This happened to me recently)

"Wow, I just saw Lynn honing at the '09 convention, those charnley forests look great, gotta get one of those" (This might have happened to me too... )

"I've read a lot about hone xxx recently, I should see what all the fuss is about..."

Repeat ad inifinitum!

Please add B.A.D. and S.A.D. to this list as well. Many of the rationale above applies to them also

Razor #2011: "I need some to leave at the office in case I have to get there before I can shave at the house so I don't have to travel with them"

There should be a new permalink: "1001 excuses to get a new razor!" . I need some ideas sometime, i have been running out of them!
