Default Life is Rough Going Literally Agianst the Grain

Hi y'all...it's been a while and I figured I'd share the results of an experiment. One day I had an epiphany. While shaving one morning I got to thinking "how can I reduce the time it takes to shave in the morning"? I usually do what I call "2 1/2 passes" meaning I go WTG on the first, ATG on the second at the sides of the cheeks/jaw and XTG on the "chinstrap" area of my chin THEN ATG on the chinstrap area to complete the half...well...this morning I took my trusty and very sharp Dovo (I call it my Cadillac) and decided to try and just go ATG all over right out of the gate. I've been str8 shaving for close to a year (I think) and by no means am I an expert but I think I've come some considerable distance in my learning curve. So I wet my face with cold water (the usual), lather up and begin...short story made long...the sides of the face/cheeks and sideburns area went ok...pretty much BBS...the underside of the neck is pretty much the same...I have some odd patterns of beard growth so few spots are totally WTG, XTG or ATG...anyway...the chin provided me the "challenge" as you'd expect...I wound up doing the "1 1/2 passes" with the chin area getting an XTG treatment then another ATG treatment...so it almost became a "1 3/4 passes" shave...lol. Anyway, the results of the experiment are...1. find something that works and stick with it but don't be afraid to try smoething new anyway...it might just work... 2. read this site and learn from the wisdom and experiences of others to help you find something that works... 3. use a sharp razor at all times...even a sharp razor can only do what you tell it to do and will sometimes let you know it's not a good idea to be doing it anyway...lol... 4. I might still need a better routine for my beard prep 5. trying to rush your shave will only get you razor burn or nicked...I got both... 6. after shave and/or colgne burns like all hell when you have a case of razor burn... 7. some sort of after shave lotion or balm is a good thing to have on hand...thankfully, I have some... 8. some things can't be "pressed out of measure" meaning that the situation that presents will onlty allow what is the maximum outcome...you can't try harder and get more..."can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" so to speak...this is so very true for str8 shaving... 9. with this or anyting else, have fun while you're doing it...Happy Shaves to all...
