    Default First Shave

Got my Poor Man's strop and razor from Whipped Dog yesterday and tried a partial shave this morning. Just sides, checks, and neck. Stayed clear of chin and lips. It was as expected, not too great but with 2 passes I got a decent shave with only a minor nick. I finished off with a disposable, but I do see potential. Larry's razor was plenty capable and I'm very pleased with it. I plan to give it another try on Monday after a little stropping.

    Hi!
Congratulations to the first straight razor shave!
Study your face and shaving equipment. I thought you might like straight razors.

    Congrats on a good start.
Take it easy and read all the good info in the threads and on the Wiki. Finishing up with the disposable is a good move also as you refine your technique with the straight.
    Good luck and enjoy!

    Thumbs up

Congratulations on a great start. Don't be in too big a hurry. You have a whole lifetime to develop your technique. I would stay with what your doing until you feel totally comfortable with your technique.

I am in my fifth month of using a straight and still occasionally finish up with a Jagger DE89L (double edge) just because I enjoy the Jagger almost as much as my straights.

It took me about a 100 shaves before I felt I was really in charge and had control of making the razor do what I wanted.

    Happy Shaving!
