    Default Ah yes, nothing like a proper straight razor shave.

    OK, technically it wasn't a straight razor shave since I used a Parker SRW. However for the first time ever shaving with something close to a straight razor and not a "modern" razor I'm very very pleased. Much better shave than the usual Mach 3 and miles above the electric I've been using since running out of Mach 3 blades. Only managed to cut myself a couple times, but nothing severe. There are a couple spots that are a tiny bit stubbly, but still for the first time I'm very pleased with the shave. I can't wait to get my grandfather's old Bengall straight razor back in shave ready condition and try that out.

    That sounds good!
    Getting a good shave from a razor like that on the first try is great.
    If you got such good results with a Parker, you are gonna really enjoy the Bengall.
    It will, after you have gone thru the learning of it, give a very close and smooth shave.
    IMHO there is nothing quite like it.
    I started out with a Feather disposable myself, and really like them as well, but to me the straight is even more satisfying and smooth!
    Good luck with it

    Now it's time to get a real straight and go at it. Glad to hear you are enjoying your Parker.

    Yeah I'm really looking forward to getting my grandfather's razor back in usable shape. It would be rather nice to use it after finding it along with his strop, brush, mug & DE safety razor. For this shave, I put his brush and mug (with new soap of course) back into service. The old Kingsley brush is so much softer than the one I got in the set from amazon along with the Parker razor, I'm thinking it must be badger because of the difference. The new brush will get backup status for the time being. Can't wait for the full on straight razor experience.

    Ah yes, I forgot to mention this is my previous post;
    You are one lucky guy! Getting an Heirloom like that from you own kin. That is priceless!
    Congrats buddy. I really hope you get many years of enjoyment from that sweet razor
