    Default Witch Hazel

As a newcomer I was really surprised how well witch hazel works. Few seconds of sting followed by...well....no sting. Followed up with an aftershave balm and my face is loving it! Definitely recommend for any new straight shaver.

    dewey81,

Witch-hazel is very good stuff ! It is also very well priced

Looking at some of the historical texts noted here at SRP, it seems witch-hazel was one of the first face 'lotions' recommended for use in shaving.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

I do a cold water rinse, pat dry and then do a good coat of witch hazel. I let it air dry and then put put on the aftershave of the day. It's an amazing thing. Ive been debating trying to make my own witch hazel aftershave, but just haven't done it yet.

I love witch hazel. Really calms my face down and then I apply my aftershave. Feels great!

Thats another trick I've picked up here, the cold water splash after rinsing off the soap. Just those two trick alone have helped immensely.

Try the Thayers line and especially their super Witch hazel. I know of no product period that will neutralize shave burn like that stuff.

Yes, this is my preferred method as well.
Cold water rinse, dry off, add Witch Hazel, and then the After shave balm of the day!
