Thanked: 39Sorry, can't help you with that honing service. I'm in Texas and I hone my own. But if AOS recommends them, they're probably good. You could check to see if they have any reviews on yelp.com

alright so i dropped off the razor at Henry Westpfal in nyc this morning, and they had a few razors out so it seems like they know what they're doing. thanks everyone for the advice and helping me figure out how to solve my dilemma.

Thanked: 0I have a razor that I definitely need to get professionally honed because I'm just starting out.
I live in Canada so I'm just wondering if I can ship it to SRD or if there's somewhere in Canada that does professional honing?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

Thanked: 10Straight Razor Design ships their razors professionally honed. That is where I bought my Dovo. It shaves great. Factory honed razors just won't give a good shave. I also bought another razor from the classifieds on this sight. It too was honed to perfection. Until you (and I) get experienced at honing our own razors getting them professionally honed is the only way to go.

Thanked: 10Look on the Straight Razor Design website for instructions. You can send a razor to them for honing.

I'm not familiar with Henry Westpfal but in the future I would suggest looking in the classifieds on this forum for someone to hone your razor. While there are other options out there you never know what you're getting. Someone who hones kitchen or pocket knives probably doesn't put the perfect edge on a razor like the guys here can (if they put an edge on it at all).
I just say this from what I've read but it sucks to go through all of these hassles when you first begin, it can really be a turnoff. The classifieds here and the recommended vendors here are always a good choice over an outside source.
