Don't fell too bad about that. There is inevitability about dragging a crazy sharp piece of steel around just fractions of a millimeter from the capillaries in your face: you are going to bleed a little. Just part of the learning curve. As long as you are mindful of the blade, especially the toe, at all times; nothing too bad will happen. Heck, I've been straight shaving for two years, wet shaving for 16, and I managed to cut a little slice in both of my earlobes and under my nose tonight!

The straight razor gods demand blood sacrifice from everyone from time to time.

It is what it is. Let's hope you heal rather quickly, or that your bite wasn't too bad. If it is a rough one, vitamin E oil can help reduce potential scarring.

    Watch that tip!

I feel your pain. After two successful shaves I took a slice out of my top lip. Thank god for styptic pencils.
I'm a sucker for a stamped tail. Giggity.

lol, I've yet to try straight blade; and having read some stories on here about first shaves and blood sacrifices I nearly quit the whole idea. One benefit of a straight over the multi blades is at least you'll only have one cut each time as opposed to x the number of blades your cartridge has... just maybe deeper... and more frequently....

Anyway, I'm slowly building my straight kit up, ordered a straight off the classifieds here, got some Ogalalala Bay Rum on order and then the rest I'll ask as birthday gifts come June.

Then I can begin appeasing the gods of the true blade

Don't worry too much. You will love shaving with a straight razor. The truth about the seriousness of all the cuts and bloodletting should be viewed in the same skeptical way you used to listen to junior high boys talking in the locker room about their sexual conquests. Mostly talk. I have yet to see anyone post about calling an ambulance after their straight razor shave.

(Now honing/restoration injuries are another whole area. Reading about some of the injuries while honing and restoring can make you wince.)

The toe is your friend, embrace it's abilities at touching up and getting your chin and under your nose bbs.. respect it, but don't fear..

Oh it was a decent nic but I stopped the bleeding quickly and all is well. In fact I shaved again tonight (avoiding the payment area) and no troubles at all...

DLB isn't kidding about those honing bites though.. Had one a week ago and sadly enough even a dull straight can leave a bloody kiss.. Of course one option to avoid those (if you want to hone yourself) is the kevlar gloves they use in fishmarkets..
