Well the first shave is done. I think it went pretty darn well for a first time. Used a Dovo 'best quality' razor, Van Der Hagen Luxury soap and Brush. Started with just below the sideburns and cheeks. That went well so I did my neck with no cuts or weepers. Sooo I did the rest of the face, incident free. With grain only, didn't want to get too crazy lol. Overall I'm pretty darn satisfied for a first timer.

I was actually more nervous about the after stropping than the actual shave. Took the stropping nice and slow, making sure to keep the spine down. We'll find out next shave exactly how I did.

Awesome! Sounds like a great first shave! Keep taking it one step at a time and you should do just fine. So far as the stropping goes, keep taking it easy...I'm doing the same.

P.S.> Dig the motto...I was a kid when the first SW movies came out.

    Peace,

Thanks for the kind words Jim. I seen in your sig that you have some razors from your Grandpas. Thats pretty awesome. I've been asking around my family to see if any of my grandpas had any, no luck yet.

Glad you liked the motto, thought it was pretty fitting lol.

I was really blessed. You can read the story here if you'd like: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...ly-jewels.html (there are also some stories of other guy's shaving stuff they received from ancestors)

Keep poking around...you never know what's hidden away in some grandparent's or aunt's basement, etc.
