    Thumbs up Great Progress!

You are moving right along. Stropping really does help. I am finding that using a barber stone can also keep a sharp edge really refreshed. I just honed several of my razors with a Swaty barber stone and it made them shave really great. They even went smoothly over my chin/jaw line.

    Keep up the good work

@DLB, i have an old Pike Wireless Hone that i use to refresh the edge of my razor from time to time. Although i find that stropping makes the biggest difference. I have started listening to classical and contemporary piano while i shave -- you'd think shaving with a straight would be a stressful experience but i find the whole experience from stropping through to aftershave to be strangely relaxing!

Thanks! He's my second little shaver to come along, both following an older sister. See page five here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/conte...-public-5.html
    for pics.

I too find straight shaving relaxing...particularly when I can shave after the kids are in bed, with the tunes of old jazz and blues (20's-40's) floating through the air.

    Peace,

I also find the shaving experience very relaxing. I agree that the choice of music be very conducive in setting the mood. (My career as a university choral conductor almost totally involved classical music.) However, I am not a morning person by nature, so I shave in total silence. There is almost a Zen-like quality to my shave time. Glad you are enjoying the experience.

Congrats on your new little boy! My son is 3 and I can't wait to teach him how to shave. He loves watching and thinks my "mask" is hilarious. Now go get some sleep, you're going to be awake for the next 6 months straight!

I actually posted at that time because he was up getting changed and eating...so why not check on SRP?

My older boy thinks shaving's pretty neat, so I fashioned him a Wedge out of pine. I just have to pinn it together now and then he can "shave" with dad.
