When do you know if your razor needs honing? During my my eventing shave I noticed more pulling than usual. I have only had my dovo best quality for only about 2 months so maybe its not the razor and its just me being out of sync with the shave but how do you know when a razor needs to be honed?

The pulling/tugging is a good indication of a need for a touchup. How consistently have you been shaving with the Dovo? I'm asking because when I started, my razors needed to be touched up more frequently than now, simply because my technique was developing.

If you've had some good shaves over the past two months, and now they're becoming slightly uncomfortable, then I'd suggest a touchup/sharpen to bring your razor back to smooth.

Totally agree with Maxi - pulling and tugging, deteriorating shave quality and increased irritation are all signs that the razor needs to be honed.

You mention that you've had your Dovo for "only about 2 months", but make no mention of whether you have been stropping it, touching it up, or whether it is in a rotation with other razors.

You certainly are noticing the pulling which is the first sign of the edge degrading. You may be able to strop it back into shape. Failing that, you still may not have to send it away to be honed. You can very likely touch it up with a Barber's Hone, available inexpensively on Ebay.
