Default The anticipation is killing me

I sent my razors off to Lynn to get honed a bit ago and am very ANXIOUSLY awaiting their return. These are my first straight razors (aside from the ones I bought to practice honing) so this will be my first foray into straight shaving. They are in the mail right now and should be here tomorrow, if not today. I have been using DEs and love them, but it's time to finally man up and do it right.

*Disclaimer: This is no way a knock against Lynn. We had conversations about honing before I sent my razors to him and he answered all of my annoying questions quickly and professionally. The turn-around time on honing my razors was great and I couldn't be happier with spending the money.

Have fun with your new straight and take some time on your first shave. Why did you decide to learn to Hone before you started shaving? I have been shaving for a couple years now and have yet to pick up a hone.

I want to learn to hone myself as soon as I can. The self sustaining nature of a SR and cost effectiveness were 2 of the main attractions for me. Paying someone to hone my razor kind of defeats the point. Having said that I'm going to wait a year or so before I try it myself, hopefully by then i'll know the difference between a dull and sharp razor.

I remember that feeling when I sent my first razor off to Lynn to hone, and then again when I sent my first restores out to Glen to get honed.

Just remember to reign that excitement in a bit when you receive your razor and prepare to shave. Wouldn't want you to cut yourself out of excitement or anything.
