Default Straight razor pins in Toronto (GTA)

    Hello everyone,
I just recently bought a Boker razor 5/8 from eBay for $37 shipping included (sounds as a good deal). Blade is in a great condition but the only problem I need to replace the handle because it has tiny cracks (probably because of the age). + I want to properly sanitize the blade and maybe do a bit of cleaning.
I thought about purchasing 1 scale and pins.
I found that Classic Shaving has them, but the shipping is going to be quite expensive to Canada.

Does anyone know any stores where I can purchase 1 scale (preferably wooden) and 1 or 2 pins (not very expensive.)
I am locate in Etobicoke (West of Toronto)

    Thanks in advance

Do you have the time/equipment to make the scales?

You can try the hobby shops around here for the brass rod (for pins). You'll need to look for two things, maybe three. 1/16" brass rod for pinning. #0 washers for the outside of the scales, and #0 wide for the inside of the pivot pin (where the razor and scales are held together).

These are available on the microfasteners web site, and they ship to canada, inexpensive, and great service!

If you need a temporary set up, PM me your mailing address, and I'll send out some washers and microfastener bolts to keep you in business until you find/order your pins.

You may also want to re-post this thread in the workshop section, as someone may have spare scales in their workshop. Just an idea.

    Good luck with the search.

For creams/soaps, I've recently become a huge fan of Queen Charlotte. Queen Charlotte Soaps, LLC

They ship quickly, have excellent products and great prices. For $15 you can select 5 different scents to try. They are also a relatively new start-up, and I firmly believe in supporting small business and dedicated craftspeople when I can, and when I can financially afford to.

This is just a follow up. Finally I got a chance to restore my Boker blade and at the same time replaced the Horn scale. Before pinning the scale, I left the blade in the alcohol and peroxide solution + boiled it for 20 min. If you guys have any suggestions, please share them.

Finally the blade is in place and it looks amazing with the new scales.
I’ve attached few shots of the blade just before and after restoration.
What do you guys think? Any comments?
