Thread: How centered should a new blade be?

I'm new to straight shaving-have been using a Dovo Shavette for a few months. Just received a new Dovo 'prima klang' in shave ready condition from a great dealer. When the blade closes, it almost hits one side of the wood scales, then centers as it closes fully. Is this normal for a new razor? Any concern?

The razor should close close to center, but as long as the very edge isn't hitting the scales, it should be fine. How easy would it be to accidentally close it and have the edge hit the scales? If it doesn't take much, I would consider returning it.

+1 on Mark's post regarding returning it. If your confident in your manual skills, a light tap with a tack hammer on the same side as it closes nearest to might set it closer to centre, but then you won't have the return it option if you bugger it up.

If it's a new razor, it's defective and I wouldn't be hammering trying to correct it. Unless you bought it at some bargain basement price knowing there were problems you paid good money to get a good razor. Send it back.

Any flaw in a new razor should be returned
it may actually help QC if everybody stop accsepting any issues with a product that is priced to be perfect
