    Default How many razors???

    Just a question as I've caught the bug... How many razors does everyone feel is enough? I would think 7 for obvious reasons. Now, I'm not talking collecting but actual usage. I've been looking into seven day sets, as some are very nice, but I would suspect it takes time to develop a favorite before buying a set. Just throwing the question out there.

    I caught the bug too. If it was me I would play the field and get some variety. Try different widths, points and brands until you have a better idea of what your favorite styles and brands are. The 7 day sets are cool but for me shaving with an identical razor every day gets old. I don't know how many is enough. I'm up around 200 and that ain't enough yet.

    When the number of razors I own equals the number of shoes and pocketbooks that my wife has it will be enough.

    n = r + 1

    where n is the number of razors you need and r is the number of razors you have

    I'm resting at about 12 right now.

    You are right, it does take some time to find a favorite size, grind, point, etc. Most of us end up with a few favorites and part of the fun is in rotating through those favorites. A seven day set doesn't scratch that itch very well. To me they are more appropriate for user/collectors and collectors than for guys (like me) that just want to use a bunch of cool razors.

    So, how many is enough? You will probably get a different answer from each person. For me.....5 to 10 really good ones could do it.....probably.

    Just one for me at the moment--a new Dovo Best Quality.

    Down the line I'm certainly interested in acquiring a few vintage razors. I already like the looks I get when I tell people I shave with a straight razor... I'm really looking forward to the look I'll get when I say that I shave with a straight razor older than I am (which isn't that old) or even better more than 100 years old.
