Yes of course there is something wrong with you but not to worry it will only get worse. Welcome to SRP. The straight razor hospice team has been notified of your membership.

I'm 25 and I complain about pop music, drunken teenagers, binge drinking women and overly feminate metrosexual males... ha ha I'm only kidding about the last one, I dont mind wearing short skirts, I have the legs for'em.

I shave and can't imagine being without it, its like "when's the next time I can shave?" it becomes addictive. you may even become a RAD HAD HAG...

    regards alex

Welcome, once you get the hang of a straight razor you'll never go back. As for the other stuff, I'm similarly inclined , sometimes the old way of doing stuff is just the best.

But I have some razors that just wont hone. Whats up with that? I'm currently researching how to hone out a frown.

Mmmmmm Single Malt Scotch...I'm partial to the Peaty Malts...I'm about 1/2 through a bottle of Lagavulin.

[ I prefer my music be played on vinyl. I hunt with a muzzleloader. I prefer to fish with a bamboo fly rod. Now, I just bought a straight razor.]

An apparent commonality is that you prefer doing things in a manner that requires you to be more fully present and engaged in what you are doing. I think that is a healthy approach. It is everybody else that needs professional help.

    Cool

Haven't done the fly rod or records, but since arriving here I've picked up Cast iron skillets, and fountain pens. I'd love to find a Kentucky long rifle flint lock!! Don't know where I'd shoot it, seeing hows I'm in the city, but it would look great on the wall!

Great bunch of guys to hang around...

    Enjoy!!

    Mmmmmm, Scotch (drool).

Actually, yes there is a flyrod building school. Mostly, I am learning by reading books and talking with master craftsmen who are in the area. There are a couple of guys in your neck of the woods (sort of) who teach bamboo classes. I think they meet in AR, but one of them lives in LA.

    Jeff,
Check out gunbroker.com. It is sort of like e-bay, but has guns. If all you want is a wall hanger, you might be able to get one pretty cheap.

I still cook with grandma's and great-grandma's iron skillets. 3-4 generations of use makes a well seasoned skillet!
