+1 on letting falling razors fall. My only serious cut was from trying to catch a falling razor... Luckily the razor fell onto a pair of jeans on a carpet so no damage except to my fingers, but that healed up fine. Just go slow and you shouldn't encounter any serious trouble.

I cut my ears a few times, I cut my thumb, and I have a couple scars on my face.

And make sure you at least have a pair of skivies on when shaving,just in case you fumble and drop your straight,it wont take your larry off !!!!!!!!!!!!

Is possible causes for worst case scenarios.
a skin deep slice of the lip or a cut on your chin from sideways motion is more likely to happen tho
I still dont have a scar... yet...

If you pay close attention and focus...nothing...if you're stupid like me and lose that focus you'll go against the age old rule of not moving the blade horizontally..last week it happened to me on the very last stroke..had to go to my company Christmas party with a rugged looking scab right on my cheek.

The worst cut I have endured while shaving with a straight wasn't even on my face or neck. I was looking at my progress in the mirror while switching hands on the razor, not paying attention to where the blade was, ended up cutting my finger. Nicked an earlobe once or twice, but nothing major.
Why doesn't the taco truck drive around the neighborhood selling tacos & margaritas???

Welcome Seth: I've been straight shaving for a bit over a year now and have probably acquired my fair share of knicks...nothing a styptic could not remedy in short order however, and anymore it is a rare occurrence.

the worst - you can drop the razor and crack the blade. unfortunately it has happened to me. the worst cuts with a razor are on my fingers from being careless when trying to sand or polish it.
no serious cuts or scars from shaving.
