I'm a big fan of the Edwin Jagger best badger brush. I had mine shipped over from England for less than 40.00.

i second BanjoTom--I did the exact same thing a number of years ago at the same retailer--www.classicshaving.com
The badger hair absorbs water just like human hair, it will also retain some heat very well for a warmer lather.

I hadn't looked into them, until your post. viewing your link, I realized I often drive by their shop, and very close to where I live.

Figured wouldn't be neighborly if I didn't stopped by. They have a great selection in a nice shop. Lots of brush inventory, displaying two and a half ceiling tall display cases of brushes plus their other products elsewhere. If was nice being helped by someone knowledgeable about details of each one. Also as you pointed out, attractive pricing, so picked up three new brushes on my visit.

    Thanks for the recommendation.

I would suggest a good badger hair brush. It will retain lots of water & it should last him a long time. I'd advise spending the money once for a better quality brush. It will make his shaves that much better. You should still be able to get one for well under $100.00. Hope he enjoys straight razor shaving!
