My first shave was off a DD Styledge a 3/8, I soon got a DD Dwarf and thought that was huge, than a 5/8 Gold Bug and THAT was huge... Now they feel like toys

As you go along and try different blades and you skill increases, the small changes will be un noticable...

I still have issues with 4/8 razors... I'm sure it's a mental issue and all I need to do is get a 4/8 wedge to trick my brain with

I have had a Sub- Zero that was just to big for my face....But I have a 8/8 Mercer that works great..With 6/8th I like my Bismark and Engels..abd for 4/8th you can't beat a Kobar...or maybe a Shultze....but my point is, I think it is the maker of the brand..Some I can use, some I can't...Fortunately the Flilarmonica is made to big for my brand of face (saves me money)

The adjustment period of, say, switching from a 6/8" to a 5/8" is minute, especially if the blade size variation is in the rotation, but it is an adjustment nevertheless.

I use blades of 6/8", 5/8" and 4/8" sizes, though mostly 6/8" and 5/8" sizes. In the rotation I have organized them in such a pattern that the shift is gradual. This I find almost eliminates the problem of adjusting to different size blade sizes.

    Thumbs up

At the end of the day, give all types of straight a shot. Steel, grind, balance...everything comes into play all at once once you shave. You will find that each blade has a personality of its own and it may not be just size that defines this trait.

That is also one reason why this "sport" is so much much...variety and choice .

This is true I have used 4/8 razors I disliked due to my stubby fingers & those that I loved. Ok the ones I loved were closer to 9/16
