Default My first razor is on it's way.

I ordered my first razor today before reading the entire site. I hope it's a good one. Now I need a strop and brush and soap. Here it is, it was only $20 so no big deal. STRAIGHT RAZOR~CLAUSS -FREMONT C. U.S.A. -G P- VINTAGE - eBay (item 120641471210 end time Nov-07-10 13:32:33 PST). Let me know what you think, Jeff

They tend to be very good shavers...

It is actually an O. not a C.

The stuff by the toe needs cleaning up, but all in all she looks pretty good from the pic....

Hey 6 gun, greetings from Idaho. I might just have to send that in to you for a honing, what a sharp idea. I'm down here in Hailey. Nice website too. Jeff

Looks like a beauty! Love the scales on it.

You can see some rust on the edge, so it definitly needs to be honed by a pro. You will probably want someone who can buff the rust off the rest of the razor as well.

Just be careful with that point when you first start learning. Ah, forget it. You're going to sacrafice some blood at some point with that thing, and then you'll be careful.

I ain't a scared. I have plenty of extra blood. I'll take the advice and get it honed by a pro so it's one less thing for me to screw up. My skni will grow back, right?

'Seems a fine blade. And you have good sense to listen about professional honing. Glenn takes a back seat to no one on restores & riding the rocks. I did find the Shapton finish a bit harsh. For a first, I'd ask for another finish. As far as shave ready sharp, that edge was unbelievable.

I hope you really enjoy your shaves. The help here is the best I've found on a forum of any kind, and the attitudes match that. Welcome. You're likely in for the best shaves of your life.

It will be a great shaver and since you're near Glen I am sure the edge you'll get will be an amazing one.
