    Default any other newbs obsessed?

My wife can't understand why I love to talk about shaving now.

She's not hostile or anything...she just shakes her head and smiles.

Am I the only one that has gotten mildly obsessed with this "old school" style of shaving?

    Later,
    Goatee

I started actually straight shaving about a month ago, but after a month of internet research, etc. I have to say I am shaving with my straight more and more often, and now that Christmas is coming up I only want aftershaves, soaps, etc. Plus thinking of getting that for everyone else. Have one blade, but I look at bidding site for a new one every week.
    So yes!

I can assure you that the obsession will only grow with time. I started shaving with a straight about two years ago. I quickly gave up shaving with anything else, although I am starting to become interested in DE razors now (more stuff to buy). Next, you will start getting interested in restoration...that's when things get really nuts! Have fun with it, and be grateful for finding something that can turn an otherwise mundane part of your day into something fun and interesting. Welcome!

Hi there, and welcome to this place,

Did you say you now love talking about shaving? Shaving? Man, that isn't a good sign.

I've seen that happen a few times before to new members and it usually never turns out well. Nope, they end up going sorta nuts and purchasing huge amounts of what they call "Shaving Gear". Yeah, right. Heck, I know one guy who bought three shaving soaps AND two creams in less than a year! Not only that, but he bought himself an additional razor! Crazy eh?

Heh, don't get too used to that look your wife's been giving you. Yep, pretty soon that smile will be gone for good. After a while it'll be replaced by a look of serious concern for your sanity. Oh, what is it exactly that she's smiling about? Whatever you do, don't ever ask her that question. The answer could be unpleasant for you both.....

Oh, I hope you don't mind me being a bit facetious and goofing on you a small bit. All in fun is the way I hope you'll take it.

Oh well... You are not alone, my wife was the same... I enjoy shaving now, I think there's some aromatherapy, calming my nerves in hot shower, feeling my skin and concentrating on my sensation while I'm shaving. And then the smell of aftershave that stays with me, my smooth aerodynamic cheeks until late night... It's worth it!
I remember myself shaving with an electric razor while driving to work to save some time only to hear from my friends at work, "Why didn't you shave today?" And I would argue with them, telling them that I shave just 45 minutes ago (in the car, while driving at 60 mph)

I'm obsessed as well. I don't talk about shaving to anyone though. I know they would think I'm crazy, so that's why I spend time on the forums.

I think the primary reason we fall in love with this lifestyle choice is because we are being good to ourselves.

I do not have an acquisition disorder, though I do have quite a few razors and brushes and creams with soaps. But I was looking for something perfect for me. I have found a perfect DE razor and a brush, I will not rotate them. Only my creams and soaps are rotating, because I like different smells. But almost every day I'm looking forward to shave
