Default Parker Barber Razor Good/ Cartridge really bad

So in the past 24 hrs I have had two unique expriences the first occured yesterday after my normal SR needs to be honed up a bit and haven't had time to do it and since I was on a crazy work scheduale, working 5pm to 3 am and then back in this morning from 7am- 5pm, I wanted to make sure I got a good shave in on one of those two days so I decided to use my Parker Barber Razor.

So I go through my normal prep hot shower get out dry off including face, then build my lather using VDH put it on and let it sit for a bit. Probally didn't let the lather sit as long as I normally do as I didn't have the need to strop. After that I went to work did one WTG and XTG and got a perfect BBS shave even my normal trouble spots were completly BBS was probally the best shave I have ever had.

Then this morning since time was at a premium I decided I would use my old Shick Titanum 4 blade catridage with a brand new blade. Now as I had shaved yesterday afternoon and had gotten BBS there was not much growth over that time but for work I need to be clean shavin so figured a touch up with the cartidrage would be fine. So again did normal prep and went to work I won't lie it did a decent job of triming down what had grown in but it did not feel good at all. Look back I can't believed I used it for so many years everyday. So glad I discovered the relaxing art of the straight shave.

    Best Regards

    Joe

    Well done!

There really is a world of difference between cartridge rubbish and straight razors. You'll find there is quite a difference between a Parker and a true fixed blade straight as well.

Thanks Stu yeah I know there is a big difference I only have one opperating reagular SR at the moment and that needs to go to the hone with a couple of others I recently picked up at antique stores just haven't had the time do it and rather then risk cutting myself up with my normal SR decided to use the Parker, usually only use the parker now for travel. And useing the Parker just showed me even more how much my normal SR needed to go back to the hones.
