    Default blade size and stiffness

Gents, I need some perspective from those who've tried all the sizes greater than 5/8 and grinds heavier than full hollow.

A comment from a (wonderful) vendor was that he thought that even with the same grind, the taller blades either were, or felt more stiff than the shorter blades.

Have you all found this to be true also?

    I appreciate your help.

I have razors from 4/8 hollow ground up to 7/8 wedge. My Wacker is a 15/16 hollow ground as well.

Apart from the different weights and feel in handling the blades they all shave the same.

A 5/8 hollow ground DOVO compared to that 15/16 Wacker feel pretty much the same stiffness in the blade. Its just the Wackers bigger and heavier.

A 7/8 W&B wedge compared to the same Wacker, the W&B feels much stiffer. But comparing hollow ground to hollow ground, I dont notice any difference in the stiffness of the blades as the size increases. IME of course!

I'm not sure what a stiffer feel means. To me all hollows feel the same just that some are heavier than others. If your comparing a part hollow to a hollow you have more feedback with the hollow.

    I think that Wedge Razors are more "chocolate-y". (1) (2) (3) (4)

    Default Michael, Big Grats!

The first bloodless shaves are still very close in my memory. 'Made me feel great also. I'm now enjoying some confidence w/ a heavier blade/grind, so that I don't even care if I nick, I'm learning so much more.

I hope your learning is faster than mine & that you enjoy at least as much as I am now. It's humbling to feel so awkward, but humble ain't bad either. All best of luck, Michael.

Default Hmm, 'sounds like hollow is just hollow regardless of size

The vibration/flex sounds like it doesn't change with size. That helps a bunch. Again, I thank you guys that are further down the path. It helps this noob more than I can say.

Your help is just outstanding. Thank You!!

6/8 & 7/8 sound very popular. What grind? full/extra hollow, or something beefier?
