    Default Hello all

    Hi
My name is Sigvald and this summer I stumbled upon a knifeshop that sold straight razors and I just had to get one. In my ignorance I went with a Razolution which I've so far only shaved with once. It's sharp, but not truely shave ready if I'm any judge. The experience was mix between horrific and great.

After reading quite a bit on the forum I really want to get properly started shaving with a straight razor. There are so many things that I find awesome with this method of shaving, but I doubt I have to tell you guys since you probably already know them

At the moment I'm looking for the items needed for a proper shave. From what I've read on the forum the razorbrand of my current razor isnt all that, so I'm thinking of getting all the items needed including a new razor.
That way, the idea is that I can practice my honing on the old one and compare to see how I'm doing.

So that's me for now I guess. I'm off to roam the classicshaving.com pages in search of a new razor.

*edit: After posting I noticed the proper section for the introduction treads. I apolegize the error and hope that a moderator could perhaps move this tread. Off to a great start

Welcome to the site and to the addiction. You could of course always roam the classifieds section on SRP and see if you find something. Most of the razors sold by members are shave ready and less expensive than a brand new production razor. It might be a good way to save money and get started.

    Good Luck!!

Welcome to the forum. The classifieds are a great source for all types of items, Hones, Razors, etc...You can even find members that do Restorations and Honing. Classic Shaving is good, as is Vintage Blades and Straight Razor Designs. Check out the WIKI, it's loaded with useful info. Let us know if you have any questions....

    Enjoy,

Thanks for the nice welcome guys

Ended up buying a Dovo Bismarck 6/8 white bone set from SRD and a 10 000 grit Naniwa stone.

Have to say, I'm alot more excited for this package to arrive than I can remember being for quite some birthdays and christmases.

Its now been 13 days since my package was sent from SRD and Im starting to fear that norwegian customs have taken an interest in my package. It could be taking time for them to tax it which I have heard could be about 25-30% of the price. That sucks, but I can live with that.

What I fear more is that the straight razor in the package is being found to be a dangerous weapon on line with butterflyknives and such. (We have retarded laws on some items I have learned lately) If so I will be down an expensive razor
(Yes officer, my plan is to stick the badger brush in their eyes to blind them temporarly, cut them with the razor and then use the soap to wash away any evidence..)

Any other norwegians on the forum with any experience regarding straight razors and customs?

    Velkommen til SRP!

Oh yes, we are a few Norwegians here.

We even have a Nordic group.

I've gotten quite a few razors through the Norwegian customs. No problems, but it might take a few extra days.
