Thread: lathering bowl

My "shave spot" (top of the cabinet) has limited space. I have been using my camping cup as a shave bowl. It is a tin cup enameled blue with white specks.

I use a small Korean hot pot. SUPER thick ceramic and cheap. Holds the heat great. It has a flat bottom and inverted lays snugly on a stack of creams to dry out.

If you have any Asian markets close by see what they have.

If my experience is typical, you won't know whether you like a scuttle or bowl until you try it. And, buying to try can be expensive. My advice is to go into every Salvation Army or Goodwill store (if US) you see and go thru their kitchen gear. Flea markets too. Count on buying quite a few bowls before finding the right one.

And, by the way, you need a bowl within a bowl, with the outer bowl holding hot water. The bowl within a bowl makes it especially hard finding the right bowl.

If you look on ebay you can find a scuttle for 15-30$ depending on the size from the ebay store of Robert Becker (rbecker13). He has an ebay store called Robert's Ceramic Feats of Clay. I use a scuttle from him, it works great and isnt very expensive compared to most other scuttles.

If your looking for just a bowl, Wal Mart and Target have countless options of lathering bowls.

Well, it is for me!

Much like the prize comes with a box of cereal, this cream rack came with coffee mugs. It's "designed" as stacking coffee mugs with rack. I'd agree with you, its real worth is to stack creams.

Cost Plus WorldMarket.com sells 9oz stacking mugs for $9.99 that I use for creams and jumbo stacking mugs for $14.99 that I use for soap pucks.
