Default New and searching and researching

I am 35 currently live in Las Vegas and interested in the world of the straight razor. I have actually wanted one for the past 5 years or so. I will treat myself once in awhile but would love to learn on my own. Mostly worried about keeping the edge has pretty much held me back. Was thinking about asking one of the local barbers for some tips, not sure how they would feel about giving away trade secrets. Other interest would include guns, cigars. Enought about me I am off to keep poking around the site. And if anyone can recommend any good places in vegas to check out about the straight razor, send me the info please. And It looks like I missed the intro area with this post Sorry

    Thanks
    Coy

There are a few barbers here, but a lot of true professionals that can assist you on keeping a new razor good and sharp. You found the right place, I promise you that. If you truely want to learn to shave with a straight, I would highly recommend ordering Lynn's video, it covers more than you can imagine & should answer most of your questions. Even if you are just thinking about it...order the video. You can find it in the classified's section here or at the Straight Razor Designs website.

IIRC, Max lives in Vegas...if you're not in the know, Max is a real pro at restoring and honing razors. If you hunt him down here, try sending him a message. If you haven't bought a razor, I'm sure that he can lead you in the right direction and get you all set up. Here's his SRP info: Straight Razor Place Forums - View Profile: Maximilian

Pull up a comfortable chair and check out this (SRP) site, there is a fountain of information here. As far as straights, I don't know anyone in Las Vegas but the classifieds here and WhippedDog.com are a great source, the latter is great to get your feet wet.
