    BLUF "Bottom Line Up Front"
Have a razor professionally honed before putting it to your skin

I recently received several razors honed by gssixgun and wow I had a TI from AOS and I thought it was sharp and it was. It just seems that now it is sharper and way smoother than I remember it being. I also sent him a NOS Goldedge I had purchased off eBay, the GE is fantastic as well I have one more GE that was NOS that I hadn't shaved with and for a comparison I used the gssixgun on the left side of my face and the NOS GE on the right they both shaved very well, but the one professionally honed feels smoother with less irritation. I know it could be to any number of things from differences of my left vs right hand, angle, and I am sure a whole bunch of other things I haven't learned as yet.
I will not put another razor to MY face that hasn't been honed by a professional the pain and irritation are just not worth it to me.

Glen puts a wickedly sharp edge on a razor. Whomever does the honing, in any event it is absolutely paramount to use razors that have been properly honed- no matter what! Beginners in particular just don't understand the difference between the 'sharp' their RoDH (Razor of Dubious Honing) shows and the edge of an experienced honer... but it is why we give the advice we do.
