Default Second Shave (Shaved off Full Beard)

I went ahead and took the plunge totally today. I shaved my beard off with my new Dan Jared restored straight razor. I went from full beard to goatee and mustache. I know that us beginners are supposed to take it slow, but I have never been patient enough.

My wife is now completely sold on str8s for me and I do not think that I will be going back. Now she wants one.

    Thanks Guys

Congrats, Hazen! I took the plunge and shaved off my full beard, which had grown surprisingly wiry and coarse over time. I even shaved off my customary backup goatee. I just now got a smooth BBS with a Gillette SuperSpeed and Proraso. I'm still going/learning slowly with the str8.

On the downside, I've gotten real self-conscious about my newly protruding upper lip (I feel like I look like Barney Rubble!). And I'm getting tired of people looking at me funny, though several women have said I look years younger without my gray beard!

Now I want to see if a blacksmith friend of mine that specializes in Japanese Blades can replicate Japanese razors for me. If I am successful I may see if I can get some feedback on the design.

I have finally found a daily use for really cool blades.

Nice to see an enthusiastic "convert". ++1 for getting the wife to want one, too. Although, having two razor enthusiasts can be a costly endeavor.

    .....good luck with that.
