Default My First Straight Razor Wet Shaving Set!!

Good Afternoon Gentlemen! first off id like to say that im tired of the Wussification of America and im taking up Straight Razor Shaving to restart an age old tradition. so far i have done tons of research and it seems that Straight Razor Designs has the best deal for what i can afford at the moment. im buying a Dovo 5/8 Best Quality black handle razor 3 inch red latigo strop, simpson beaufort b4 pure badger brush a classic mug and a soap of my choice. now my main focus here is the Strop.. do i have to treat it with anything? or just hang it pull taught and strop as normal. any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks enjoy your holiday weekend!

I wonder if you can replace the Simpson with a Thäter. But that's a personal preference. The strop will be fine. Just run your palms across it every now and then to "oil" it.

    Happy shopping,
    Robin

The Simpson is a good brush. Your strop should be good to go depending on who you got it from. Most strops are ready when you get them. The best way to condition it is like BeBerlin said and just run a flat palm over it like your stroping your palm. Then natural oils from your hand will help condition the leather. This is something you don't need to do to often. I hope this helps Look in the Wiki for more info. Welcome and enjoy your new gear.

Not to talk you out of your decision, as it is a good one; but have you searched the Classifieds here? May find some essentials at a greater deal?
