    Default Just doesn't cut it

I can get a BBS shave everywhere on my face, even my neck. However, the area just below my jawline is a bugger.

When I use a DE I either j-hook the area or I pull the skin and attack the whiskers downward and to the center.

The hairs grow back toward my ear and slight upward.

I can hit them with my straight but it's such an awkward angle it's dangerous.

Any ideas on how to get at them properly. I've stretched the skin and tried so many different ways.

    Thanks

Try really stretching it so that it is above the jaw line. Use an alum block and just touch it with your stretching finger and really pull it up then with the other hand do a XTG pass from the ear to the center line.

Another way for me is to do a little stretching and then simply do a XTG to center with the razor toe tucked under, and along your jaw line. It is a little tricky because you can not see the razor and have to use your sense of feel for the pass.

    Take Care,
    Richard

    Hi Joscobo,
This is a difficult area to get right-I struggled with it until I tried the ATG pass as follows:-
Lather the neck area under your chin, then open the razor out so that it is straight(or flat) -pull the skin down on your neck with your left hand just below your adams apple using your thumb and forefinger-lift your head up slightly.Place the razor blade just to the left or right hand side of your adams apple at an angle of 5/10 degrees (blade turned up) and make short upward strokes keeping the angle at 5/10 degrees. You should be able to go right up to the edge of your jawline on both sides .This should take care of all the hair under your chin.
    Hope this helps

That's the method I use to take care of that area of my face. I believe that Lynn uses the same technique on his dvd.

You have to pull/stretch the skin on your face up really tight so the skin under your jaw line is now on your cheek. Then use a scything motion and slice XTG on that area with a diagonal stoke.

I would also recommend stretching the skin even more in this area. I have problems in that area as well as mine grow up and back almost parallel with my jaw. I find if I really stretch in to where it's above my jaw (on my cheek) I can get fairly satisfactory results.

First of all I want to thank everyone who took the time to reply with advice. I also want to apologize for not responding here earlier.

Ok, so here is what I did. I started exploring extreme skin stretching. Tugging here and there and this way and that. I found out that although the whiskers are growing the same direction only a small part of the area really needs a full on against the grain pass. On other parts merely stretching the skin much more than I have been does the trick across the grain.

So for that one patch I've played around with different blade passes and angles. But the combination of stretching the skin and scything for that part works best.

Thanks again fella's. Now to really work on my last problem area. That upper lip.

    Default Be careful

    Guys,
Be careful with all that over stretching on your cheeks and jaw line!

I know you have all seen old men with Loose saging cheeks that look like a St Benard or an old bulldog? Or it looks like they have a set of saddle bags hanging off their face.

Thats how they got it, over stretching those cheeks and jaw lines shaving.

    God help you,
    Silver2

I have the same problem... a very skinny and angular face with a pronounced jawline and adams apple. The only thing I've found to work so far is crazy stretching.
