    Thumbs up Mentors, the freshmaker

Looking to have a sit down with a honemeister, but I'm all the way out in Kansas. Also, Could'nt find any information on how to go about asking for mentorship. I have all the gear and two antique store razors I am trying to hone to shave-ready and am getting frustrated. The barber supply in town says there isn't anyone here she would trust to hone a razor, so I guess I just need more study and might just need to send one out for sharpening while I try and learn honing. Any suggestions and or advice? I have been reading all I can on honing, but am just not getting it.

Would you supply some more information about your honing?
What stones do you have and how do you hone on them?

Well you're a bit too far for me else I'd offer

Tell us about what you have as far as razors and hones go, and if you have a razor that was previously sharpened by a honemeister.

I'd love to see some pics of the razors as well -- we love the razor photos and we'll be able to tell you how much work to expect from each.

There is a MO meet coming up,and Lynn Abrams will be in attendance. Even if you figure out honing before then, you will be able to get tips to make you better.

Great point! In the meantime, SRP has a mentor program designed to help people in your situation, you can recognize them by their blue batch displayed on their posts. For a list of the officially recognized forum mentors, check this: Straight Razor Place:About - Straight Razor Place Wiki

Feel free to send a PM to either of these guys asking for help. Also, some of them may live close by, if you would like more direct mentorship.

    Al raz.

I'm not finding the member map... I hate searches... and they don't like me

That may help find people near you. I lived on Ft. Riley for 5 years, hung out in Junction City most of the time

    Welcome to SRP
