    Brummel,

Mr Neil Miller (www.strop-shop.co.uk) makes superb paddle strops (www.strop-shop.co.uk/category/Hand_Made_Razor_Strops___Paddles/Paddle_Strops,b.html).

There is a fine choice of double sided leather, or leather/hard wool felt. The paddles are made from ash and also other hardwoods.

For pastes, I use his double sided tallow tan leather paddle, with CrOx on one side and tin oxide on the other.

Mr Miller also sells CrOx powder.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

I've got a Raven barber hone that I snagged on eBay for about $25, so they are a good way to go.

I also pasted my old strop with a CrOx crayon that I got from SRD, which works really well. And I made a denim flatbed hone that has 0.5m diamond spray on it, again a very effective touch up method or a final finish after honing the razor.

Thanks for all the advice, i will go for the Barber hone idea via EBay initially i think then, on the basis of whats been said and see how it goes. The diamond paste looks like something to try later with some more experience .

Ever Ready was a big name with Brushes, soaps, creams, safety razors and blades, I didn't know they made a hone, but if the price is fair I wouldn't be afraid to try it!
