how long does it take you to shave?

Hi,

My daily shave is one part of the day I don't skimp time over; I shave after I get back from work to give me the time.

From the time of stepping into the bathroom to the end of cleaning the sink is usually 45 minutes for a three (3) pass shave.

The actual shaving part is about ten (10) minutes

I guess I probably take about 15-20 minutes all in. I do a hot towel first as well, and I'm pretty picky about drying the razor off properly and giving it a strop before I put it away. That adds a bit of time to it.

When I started it was probably about 45 minutes, and if I'm really pushed now (and I dont do the hot towel) I can shave in about 10 minutes. Any more time pressure than that and I switch to a DE. I like my face and I'd like to keep it attached..!

Normally around 20 minutes at comfortable relaxed pace, WTG and XTG/ATG.

This is from putting water in my cup at the start to stropping and packing up at the end.

I've done it in 15 minutes, but I generally take my time.

Even after switching to cold water shaving and reducing some of the stuff I do - it is still around 20 minutes.

I also like to strop the night before - partly because it is meditative and partly to save a couple of minutes in the morning.

it varies with me, if its just a shave before i leave the house in the morning, then about 30 mins inclusing a shower, if its at a weekend and i want to "play" a little then up to an hour

On weekdays around 12 to 15min, weekends 20 to 25 minutes. Weekend shaves are BBS all day. Glasses can be tricky if you are reaching over your face to pull your cheek up. Sideburns and around the ears can go slow. Chins have many angles, at least for me.

Start to finish (including prep, stropping, post shave clean up etc.) is 20-30 minutes for a really good shave, closer to 45 minutes when going for BBS.

BBS in 15 minutes. Started out with 45 minute shaves while learning and became progressively quicker as my knowledge and technique improved.

It usually takes me no more than 10-12 minutes, but my beard doesn't seem to require an overly ambitious prep, or an XTG pass. Here's my routine:

Start running water. (Bathroom's a long way from the water heater.)
Select razor.
Strop razor. 30-40 strokes, leather only.
Soak face.
Ponder the soap/creme choices for the day.
Lather.
WTG.
Re-lather.
ATG.
Inspect and touch-up. Ah, BBS!
Hot rinse.
Cold rinse.
Nivea shave balm.
Dry razor and police the area.
If feeling ambitious, apply AS.

from stepping into the bathroom to oiling my razor 45 mins on a normal day if i feel i got to rush ill save shaving for another day. remember as in so many things its the journey not the destination that counts
