After following the advice from this forum this past week, this morning's shave was very enjoyable. Angle, pressure, and stretching have been the key for me in reducing my initial irritation. This morning I did not have any nicks, and learning this process is teaching me to be patient, an area where I have always needed work.

Because my skin is sensitive I am prone to shaving bumps, on my neck especially. What I have been doing is using moisturizer for sensitive skin in such areas frequently throughout the day. This has helped me greatly with the bumps. When I nick myself, I have been applying a small amount of neosporin, or any antibiotic ointment to the cut. The nicks I inflicted two days ago are already barely visible. Antibiotic ointment seems to help heal cuts rapidly.
