    Default Hello all and thanks

Well, I have been lurking and reading some of the fine information made available by all the nice folks here and figured it was time to join and say hello. I've been wet shaving with a DE for 6 months. This all started the day after my wedding this summer when my face was sore as all from a Fusion. When I started wet shaving straight shaving wasn't even a thought since the cost/time/learning curve. However, xmas eve I decided what the heck since my lathering has been pretty consistent. I ordered a spike point dovo from srd and a golden dollar from RupRazor with a Filly strop to start on with plans to get a TM soon. The dovo being a 5/8ths and the dollar being a 6/8ths with the prices, honing by some great guys and the lifetime sharpening it was just time. Even the wife supported it if I decided to. I've read so many tips. I was wondering how to know which variety to go with a finishing hone to keep everything shave ready. I'm a quick study when I see things but I always look ahead to what is coming. Tkx Bandit

you should be "go to go" for quite sometime before you start to hone...when you get ready to start the honing, i would recommend the norton 4000/8000 and maybe the chinese 12k for finish..there are lots of choices and you will many answers as to what to use and buy. the ones i mention above are fairly inexpensive and will get good results. later on you can go for more expensive hones...first off just worry about learing to shave and strop properly and slowly move on up the learning ladder....good luck
