Default A quick hello and intro...

    Good evening folks.

A quick introduction. I’m from Mississauga Canada and relatively new to wet shaving. I’ve begun with a DE razor and have been focusing on my pre-shave prep and am enjoying all the fantastic tools and software that go along with it. Interesting, with DE’s you drop $100 and you’re off to the races, two weeks later the initial cuts have healed and you’re getting near the top of your game. An intro to SR shaving has been a little more slow going. I’ve got a blade all picked out, but I’ve been immersing myself in the maintenance and rituals to make sure she stays keen and lasts a lifetime…hones, pastes, lapping, stropping, etc. etc. I’m enjoying the journey and hope to have my first shave in another month or two. This place has already been an invaluable resource.

Other things? I enjoy collecting both pipes and cigars, wine and good food – but I think wet shaving will certainly be my focus for months to come.

Thanks for being here, thanks for the learning…it’s a pleasure spending time on the forums. I did mention that I don't have a SE yet - I hope that doesn't mean I have to leave?

    Mike

    welcome to srp mike

i think a lot of us enjoy pipes, cigars, wine, food...
as far as the straight shaving, you won't be able to figure it out before you actually give it a try. i'd suggest you tackle the issues as they happen, i.e. get a sharp razor and a strop and worry about honing when it's time for it.

Welcome to SRP Mike, I am also a pipe smoker/collector. Straight razors can become the same type of passion if you are so inclined. What gugi said is on the money. Smooth shaving to you.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
