Well, I love Dovos... They are quality embodied as far as I'm concerned... If you go with that package, I'd get the Bridle Strop (It's +50$ but it's worth every penny and then some... That strop is purely amazing!) and then pick up a Filly. Practice with the filly. A lot. That way, when you move to the Bridle, you not only have the best strop, but it isn't cut to pieces.

Oils for shave prep have never given me any change. Get a high quality cream or soap, and your set (Olivia's creams are amazing, so are Castle Forbes, and Truefitt and Hill soaps and creams, along with Taylor of Old Bond Street... You can't go wrong with those)

The mirror on the wall is all I generally use... I think a standalone mirror is for a better view of those nooks and crannies, if you can't make do with a standard mirror.

Lynns DVD is a very very good resource, but with the info on the site you can get by.

But, I cannot stress this enough, High quality creams and soaps... They make a world of difference

Also, if you can afford it, the Bridle will never let you down.

I'll second the advice on the English Bridle Strop. It's a beauty.

    Hey fellas,

It's been a while but I haven't forgotten! I've since received my kit (brushes were on back order so I had to wait a little longer) and all I've left to pick up is preshave/aftershave. I went with the black Dovo Bismarck 6/8" with kit. I went ahead and got the Birdle strop along with The Filly to start on. I also went with the oversize black mug. Though I haven't used any of it yet, I'm quite impressed with the quality thus far!

Thanks again, and hopefully most of my future posts will be concerning technique.

    Cheers
