Thread: Chat Tonight!!

Just a note to let the new folks know that we normally have a chat on Sunday evenings and a Restoration Chat on Tuesday nights. Tonight's chat starts at 8:00 PM Eastern. BYOB!!

As an FYI, there are generally people in the chat every day, all day, so always feel free to pop in and ask a question or just say Hello.

I've never been able to connect with chat by using the button on the SRP tool bar. I connected a couple to time via a link that 6Gun provided, but have misplaced that tool.

Anyone: ideas on why the SRP "Chat" button won't get you to the Chat room?

The way chat works is that there is a server where it happens and in order to participate you need a program capable to connect to that server.
The server works almost flawlessly, the problem is that you don't use a good program to communicate with it.

The button in the menu downloads a free program off the internet and relies a lot on your web browser. Many people's browsers and computers are not very well made or configured and that would certainly prevent them from connecting to the chat server. You seem to belong to that category of people.

Two solutions to the problem:
(1) figure out what is the problem with your browser or computer (perhaps misconfigured firewall type of software) and fix it
(2) try a better program (here are instructions for that Using the SRP Chat - Straight Razor Place Wiki)

And as far as I know that free program is the best that can be run within almost any browser, so as bad as it is, is the best one that can be accessed by 80%-90% of the people with a single click of the mouse.
