    Default 1st Post Here!

Well I've been wet shaving for a while and been a member of Badger and Blade for a few months now. I thought it was time to join up here. I've picked up a couple of straights to restore so I thought I might as well join the board.
Anyways I will in the future have many question about all the aspect related to Straights for now I'll keep it simple and just and say Hello SRP!

    Welcome to SRP!

I look forward to seeing the razors you're going to restore, both before and after restoration if you're willing.

Here is one I got off the eBay

It was cheep. I also have an "It's A Bear Razor" I picked up in a Antique Mall for 12 bucks. I didn't take any before pictures. It's made by the Razor King Omaha Nebraska. It's at work in my tool box. I have it disassembled the blade and scales polished ready for reassembly. I've got the brass rod waiting for my Brass and stainless washers to arrive from McMaster Carr
Not sure about investing in hones yet or just sending them out to get honed. I'm going to need a strop for sure. Not certain whether to make one or buy one yet.

I'd send at least one of the restored razors out to be honed, that way you have a benchmark of what shave ready really is.

Those are some interesting looking scales on that razor! Do you know who the manufacturer is?

Danny is giving you some good advice on sending some out. I see you're in Missouri. Some forum members who are very knowledgeable on restoration and honing live in your state. Nun2sharp, hi_bud_gl and gunner are all Missourians. Might be one or more lives near you and could help you get started on the right foot.
