    looking for a second razor for a newbie,one i can have a go at honing myself.nothing that needs a lot of work,i only have a norton 4000/8000 combi water stone so a bit limited.thanks gareth.

    classifieds have a bunch of razors listed for sale, e-Bay if you want to test your luck.

    I actually have done quite good on ebay looking for junk to learn on. I picked up a couple Wade and Butchers real cheap, a Torrey and a Dubl Duck. I didnt pay more that 10 for any one of them shipped.

    Keep surfing the antique shops and flea markets too.

    given the edge ebay razors come with and that you only have the norton 4k/8k combo i'd recommend staying away from ebay.
    i see two options for getting a razor with clean bevel, which is most of the work
    (1) a razor from the classifieds that has been honed
    (2) a new razor that has been honed at the factory i.e. the entry level dovo, or perhaps the gold dollar would be good even though i haven't seen their factory edge

    I have an Oxford that would do well on the 4k/8k. If you're interested shoot me a PM. There;s nothing wrong with it, I just don't use it any more.
