    Default Saying hello.

As the title say`s, a post to introduce myself. I`m 48 years old in December, so after thirty odd years of shaving with whatever disposable catridge razors which were on the market at the time (and a short spell with safety razors and blades) I decided it was time to go "old school" and adopt the straight method.

After a week of experimenting with a pair of cheapo razors from ebay, I decided if was was going to change, then I would better do it right. The Dovo I ordered came today and by the God`s what a difference!

I suppose after a week, I`m doing OK, but I have a way to go. I have dark hair and a heavy dark beard growth speckled with grey nowadays. So far I am comfortable shaving with, and across the growth, I really need a third pass to get really close, especially around the neck which grows almost in a horizontal direction, but I am prepared to be a patient man in this respect. I currently have a goatee beard, so I`m starting slow, and hoping to have enough technique to go completely clean shaven when I hit the beaches in January!

Welcome, from one newbie to another. I'm on day 6 shaving with a straight and am having a fairly nice time of it, progressing slowly but steadily. You will find it friendly and helpful here.

    Welcome!

    Welcome to SRP!

If you run into any problems then don't hesitate to provide as much detail as possible. Your routine, brush used, soap or cream used etc. The devil is often in the details and we're also a pretty nosey lot on here anyway when it comes to shaving.

    Welcome SRP
You are in right place. As you mention in your post have patience and don't go fast.
Try to learn right strokes . scything motion is the best for me.
I forget when i did 3 passes .2 will be good enough.
if you have any questions please do ask.

You're going to the beaches during the Scottish January? It's like 5 degrees Celsius!

Keep up the shaving...you're in good hands hear.

    Default Dovo Razor

Quick update on my new Dovo, after two days with this razor I can honestly say todays shave was one of the most satisfying things I have done for ages, how sad is that!
If any newbies like myself are considering buying one of these, I can tell you I consider it money well spent. I`m looking forward to getting up tomorrow so I can use it again!
