    Fido,

    I have to agree with the middle of the roaders as I use as much of the blade as I can with sometimes the tip leading, sometimes the heel leading, and sometimes everything is mostly straight across. It really is what ever works best for the shaver as shaving is a unique experience.

    The example from the barber's manual shows how one should try to shave another's face - motions which are probably remarkably different from shaving one's own face.

    I try to use the whole blade evenly as I know I want to keep the wear the same. Its easy to forget this and just use the toe for most of the shave.

    When using a sharp point and shaving south along the side cheek, I do blow a little air into the check to insure the point does not catch my skin and cut me during the down stroke.
