    Default First shave

I must say that my teachers were right in school. They always told me do your homework and when test time comes you will ace it.
I did my homework for about a month reading and watching everything i could get my hands on about Straight razor shaving. I ordered a wet shaving set from SRD sunday and received my stuff today. I stropped my razor filled my conch with hot water let the brush soak. I jumped in the shower got out and went to town. First pass was WTG, no problem. Second pass XTG, no problem. Third pass ATG, not that great. I had problems on my neck area with the third pass. I would give my shave a 90%. I still need a lot of practice. I think getting a 100% perfect shave is going to be tuff, but i can do it.
Thanks for all the help, and a special thanks to SRD for getting my razor shave ready and the speedy delivery. A++++

    Matt,

you are brave. Most only do one or two passes for the first time. Going ATG the first time does take some practice but a 90 % successful shave is pretty darn good in my books. It will only get better.

WOO HOO!!! Someone with a first shave much like my own! I am a strong supporter of throwing caution to the wind and going at it full force the first time around. Steeper learning curve I think, but you learn that much faster. Much better than doing the cheek for a week, then the neck, then the other cheek, then the other side of the neck, then the whole deal

    Congrats Man

    Thumbs up

Way to go and good for you! Very brave and very awesome taking on 3 passes on your first shave! When I did my first shave with my Dovo Bergischer Lowe, a little over a year ago I did a full face shave as well, but only 2 passes. WTG, XTG. Congradulations on 3 WOW I only had 4 nicks and a poke from the spanish point. I thought I did good, but I got to give it to you for bravery, there is alot to be said just for trying to make one pass with a straight! Until you skills start to improve, you can make a couple of passes on your stropp, in between passes. This might help you. Good luck and welcome to the brotherhood.

Welcome mate. It's always nice to see someone who did his homework and used the beginner info as it is meant to. Also fortunate that your stropping and first shave went well.

    Many happy shavings.

Congrats on breaking the ice so auspiciously. Took me a couple of weeks to get as far as you have on your first shave.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    Awesome first shave!
90% on your first go...with the next few shaves, if you pay really close attention to what is happeneing with the little changes in your technique, etc on the 3rd pass...you will see that 90% go up pretty quickly, judging from how well you started out!

    Welcome to the club!

    Congratulations on your first shave

With time you will get the shave done faster. I have been at it little over a month and my full 3 pass with touch up has sped up to about 30 minutes.

    Best of luck!
